1325345薩摩伝承館Satsuma Denshokan薩摩の時の流れを映す殿堂Edifice reflecting the passage of time in satsuma指宿湾に面する和風旅館の敷地内に建つ多目的ホールを備えた滞在型施設である。建築主の「ここに来れば薩摩が分かる」という想いの具現化をテーマとして、日本の普遍的な意匠美の継承、薩摩文化の魅力を発掘・演出・伝承し得る空間の構築、そして薩摩の独自性を示すことを目指した。本殿と両袖の脇殿、背後の庫殿からなり、本殿と脇殿はそれぞれ深い懐と剛健な薩摩隼人の気質と控えめで凛とした薩摩おこじょの気質の趣をもつ。自然と一体化した景観形成と趣のある和の風景の創造によって、薩摩の時を刻む一つの風景として人々の記憶に残ることを狙っている。(原 弘)This project involved the construction of an accommodation facility with a multipurpose hall, built on the site of a Japanese-style inn located on Ibusuki Bay. The theme of the design was to embody the owner's wish that visitors should be able to gain an understanding of Satsuma culture by coming here. Accordingly, the objectives were to retain the universal beauty of Japanese design, to create an environment capable of discovering, presenting and passing on the appeal of Satsuma culture, and to express the uniqueness of Satsuma history and culture. The complex comprises a main hall, two subordinate halls on either side and a storeroom hall to the rear. Both the main hall and the two subordinate halls were provided with a deep interior with strong and sturdy construction reminiscent of the fierce and courageous warriors of Satsuma, as well as the modesty and dignity of a traditional Satsuma maiden. The goal of the design was to create a building that would remain in the memory as a timeless depiction of Satsuma culture, through the creation of a Japanese-style atmosphere and an appearance that is integrated with its natural setting.
