The exterior is such that the eaves are low and extend far outward from the walls of the exhibition room in the center, and the tiled roof that rises upward is integrated with the traditional scenery of the temple compound. The corridor that stretches beneath the eaves is made up of highly transparent glass screens, with an exhibition room on the inner side as a nest box structure. The temperature, humidity and lighting of the exhibition room are controlled 24 hours a day to protect the exhibits from the outside environment. For the structural skeleton, 500-year concrete has been used to ensure a long service life for the building. When sunlight changes to lamplight and dusk approaches light and dark are reversed and the presence of the roof alone seems to rise up in the midst of the light. The objective of the design was to have this roof provide the narrative for the mysteries contained in this historical locale.
