埼玉医科大学 あすなろSaitama Medical University ASUNARO子供たちのための木造空間の創出Creating a wooden environment especially designed for children緩やかな斜面を活かした木造平屋の保育園である。地形に合わせた大きな屋根と柱と梁を3.6m(2間)グリッド上に配置した木造の架構は、散りばめたトップライトからの木漏れ日を受けて木立の中のような空間となる。点在する色付きボックスは設備機能を集約しながら各保育ゾーンを柔らかく示し、広くオープンな空間で子供たちが安心して自由に走り回れる環境を創った。温もりある自然素材、光・風・緑・雨の音・土の匂いや多様に展開する空間が子供たちの五感を優しく刺激し、失われがちな感覚を研ぎ澄ますのに寄与する。また、敷地から出た土を利用して子供たちが絵を描いた焼き物や地元の木材など「場所と人の記憶」を外壁に象嵌した。(齋藤 俊一郎)This day-care center has been designed as a wooden bungalow on a gently sloping hillside. The wooden skeleton consists of a large roof designed to match the topography and columns and beams placed on a 3.6-meter grid (2 sections). The light from the skylights fi lters down like sunlight through the trees, creating the impression of being in a grove of trees in the open. The colored boxes placed here and there house the facility functions while at the same time gently demarcating the child care zones. The open, spacious interior is one in which children can feel at ease and run around freely. The space uses warm, natural materials, and the light, wind, greenery, sound of rain, smell of the earth and diversity of the interior environment helps to gently stimulate children's senses and hone their oft-forgotten sensibilities. The outer walls are inlaid with pottery, created from earth taken from the site, on which children have made drawings, as well as local wood and other materials, in an effort to create "memories of place and people."
