The concept for the training center was experience-based training in which trainees "see, touch, and master" the training content. The aim was to create a "place for communicating the spirit of craftsmanship" that would hone the senses of the trainees. The semi-outdoor facility has an austere environment similar to that of an actual manufacturing center, using the materials and structures of both the interior and exterior as is. Beneath the large roof with skylights is a flexible space with no columns, in which interior and exterior can be integrated and used freely for a variety of training and other operations. The design also takes into consideration future needs for remodeling and expansion. Natural breezes and natural lighting are incorporated with maximum use of passive environmental technologies to create a low environmental load facility. The abundant greenery of the site has been preserved, and the new facility is integrated with other existing training facilities to form a training environment that links trainees with nature.
