From 1993 the facilities were upgraded and modification to seismically isolate the building was carried out, and the medical treatment functions were meticulously re-arranged and the flow lines reorganized associated with this. At the same time the open spaces necessary for the campus (green areas, passages within the grounds) were re-constructed over 30 years, with the aim of realizing a hospital within a forest. While maintaining the same language of form as the existing building, the No. 3 Hospital Building is more advanced environmentally, and its seismic isolation structure is linked to that of the adjacent hospital building, thereby functionally linking them into twin towers. In the future the campus master plan will be further progressed by providing a Campus Avenue between the hospital function in the North Zone and the university function in the South Zone.
