External pilotis on the 1st and 2nd stories forming a lively plaza that is open to the city, as well as a circular lobby are provided based on the concept of “transmitting information from Kansai to the world”. These areas are unified with timber materials, with the aim of providing a lively space in the OBP where the visitors can freely come and go. The broadcasting station function which requires security is provided on the 3rd story and higher. The lower stories where the contents creation studios are located are oriented towards the axes of the OBP and the river, and the higher stories where the headquarters functions are located face directly towards Osaka Castle by swinging the axis 45 degrees away from OBP. Responding to three different surrounding sight lines extending to Osaka Castle, rivers and OBP streets, slight manipulation of building volume creates various rooftop gardens and forges a stronger bond between surrounding greenery and the new television station.
