The building has a substantial timber façade that harmonizes with the history of the Meiji Strine, and through the center of the building runs a semi-outdoor space referred to as the “Passage” conforming to the 8 m difference in level of the site in the east-west direction. The Passage provides a new street space that enables pedestrians to pass through to Takeshita Dori on the east side. A stepped terrace wrapped in greenery that reproduces the Edo period hill Genjiyama is provided along this Passage, opening up to the city this lush environment looking down on the streetscape of Harajuku.
