The designers viewed the disjuncture between ground level and underground spaces as a community issue that needed to be resolved, and provided an atrium facing the intersection as an open space connecting the stairs and the skipped-floor type spaces that encourage people to spend time. Commercial tenants are placed around the periphery, and gentle visual lines and movement routes link the above-ground and below-ground spaces across the 6.5m level difference. The aim was to achieve a plaza environment that is open to the community and links the vibrancy of below-ground and above-ground spaces.
