The design motif was the linkage between Okayama Castle and Korakuen Park. The theater and the high-rise building are connected by corridors to the large covered plaza, organically integrating the various functions with the newly created urban landscape. The exterior is formed by horizontal lines and randomly placed vertical ribs, so the shadows that change the appearance express the creativity and celebratory nature of the theater to create a new urban landmark. The corridors have louvers of Japanese cypress produced in Okayama Prefecture that help to reduce environmental load.The hope is that a cycle that spans generations will be produced, in which residents of the apartments in the high-rise building can come into contact with culture and the arts on a daily basis and become the cultural arts leaders of the future.
