The plan included blank spaces to enable student dorm residents to choose locations to match their activities and to accommodate future changes in use. For the landscape, a wide-area ecosystem study was conducted to select vegetation that would attract birds and butterflies that inhabit the area, enabling the site to function as a part of the local ecosystem. Designed to facilitate ties both among dormitory residents themselves and with the wider community, the rebuilt facility will also be a place of creative learning and inspiration for future generations.
