The goal was to create an open facility that connects learning and living, where diverse values intersect in ways not possible in the classroom alone. The kitchen, lounge and other functions that in the existing dormitory were evenly distributed on each floor are centralized in specific locations to produce interaction between floors. In addition, earthquake-resisting elements are concentrated in the symmetrically arranged dorm room areas to design the peripheral bearing walls.
