The condominium elements that are normally exposed on the façade, such as equipment and pipes, were separated and concealed within the folded-up eaves to achieve an elegant appearance. The balconies were reconstructed as a buffer zone between the city and the residences, like the engawa verandah of a traditional Japanese house. Both structure and systems are designed to permit a cross-cultural Japanese and Western living environment, such as floor plans designed for Western lifestyles and the provision of home offices where people of different nationalities and ethnicities can gather. The goal was to enable foreign residents to experience Japanese craftsmanship in their daily lives, to make their time living in the foreign country of Japan as rewarding as possible.
