Takenaka Corporation
Takenaka Corporation (President: Masato Sasaki) has set a long-term CO2 reduction target for the entire Takenaka Group, expanding the scope of our nonconsolidated long-term target for 2050, which was revised in 2021, to group companies subject to consolidated accounting and raising the target for 2030.
With the new 2030 target, we aim to obtain SBT* (Science Based Targets) validation by the end of 2023.
Takenaka Group Long-Term CO2 Reduction Targets
Scope 1+2* 46.2% reduction by 2030*, 100% reduction by 2050 (1.5 degrees Celsius level)
Scope 3* 27.5% reduction by 2030*, 100% reduction by 2050 (WB2 degrees Celsius level*)
(Base year: 2019)
We set our energy reduction target in 2010, and in December 2019, we set a long-term goal for CO2 reduction that encompasses all of our business activities, in response to the accelerating global movement toward achieving the Paris Agreement targets, among other factors. In March 2021, the target was revised from 80% reduction to 100% reduction by 2050.
Going forward, the Takenaka Group will continue to accelerate its efforts to achieve a decarbonized society by working together as one.
- *SBT:A scientifically based CO2 reduction target that is consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement. It is certified by the SBT Initiative, an international organization.
*Scope 1 : Direct emissions such as fuel combustion
Scope 2 : Indirect emissions from the use of electricity, heat, etc.
Scope 3 : Indirect emissions other than Scopes 1 and 2, including during operation of designed buildings.
WB2 degrees Celsius level : Well below 2 degrees Celsius
