YAMAHA CORPORATION NAKAZAWA DORMITORY
Shizuoka 2004Yamaha abolished all its company housing and designed a 100-room dormitory for single men and women for Hamamatsu City. Giving consideration to plenty of greenery and the scenery of the undulations of the surrounding residential area, the positions of wind-resistant screens which also act to hide outside equipment have been laid out to give a rich, rhythmical exterior appearance. The plane plan called for a courtyard to be built between the dormitory and common-use buildings so that light, wind and the greenery could be appreciated. The make-up of the male and female occupants can be flexibly met through the vertical circulation layout. The dormitory rooms have large windows which can be opened on the north and south sides which make the rooms bright with good air circulation. Closed equipment modules are used in each room.
